Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how 47 Signals LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company doing business as Not Interested ("Not Interested," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Not Interested mobile application, its Message Filter, Call Directory and SMS/Call Reporting extensions, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address as Apple provides them. When you sign in with an email code, we receive the email address you enter.
- Spam reports. When you report a text or call, we receive the sender's number, when the message or call was received, the category you choose, and for texts, the text of the reported messages. Reports are linked to your account so that the numbers you report are blocked on your phone.
b. Texts Screened by the Message Filter
When you turn on text filtering, iOS sends texts from unknown senders to our servers so they can be checked for spam. Each request contains the sender and the text of the message. iOS does not include your phone number, your name, your account, or any device identifier, so a screened text cannot be linked to you. This is how Apple designed message filtering.
iOS only sends texts from senders you don't know. Messages from your contacts, iMessage conversations, and senders you have replied to are never sent to us.
c. Calls
Call blocking and labelling happen on your phone. The app downloads a list of known spam numbers, and iOS checks incoming calls against it on your device. No information about the calls you receive is sent to us. The only call information we receive is a call you choose to report.
d. Information Collected Automatically
- Network information. Our servers log the IP address and user agent of each request for security and to prevent abuse. IP addresses are not stored with screened texts.
- App version. Requests include the version of the app, which we use to troubleshoot problems.
- App usage. The app records when it is installed, opened and closed, and the steps you take through onboarding, sign-in, the subscription screen and setup. Each event includes the app version, your device model, operating system version, screen size, language, time zone and whether you are on Wi-Fi or cellular. After you sign in, these events are linked to your account by an internal account number, not by your name or email address. They never include your texts, your calls or any phone number. We do not use them to work out your location.
e. Information from Third Parties
- Sign in with Apple. We receive your name and email address from Apple. We do not access any other Apple account data.
- Subscriptions. Purchases are made through Apple's App Store. We receive the status of your subscription and your purchase history for the app, not your payment details.
- Apple Ads. If you installed the app after seeing or tapping one of our ads on the App Store, Apple tells us which campaign, ad group and keyword the install came from. This is linked to your account by the internal account number. It contains no advertising identifier.
f. What We Never Access
Not Interested does not access your contacts, your call history, your messages from people you know, or your location.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide, maintain, and improve the Service. Specifically:
- Text filtering. Checking texts from unknown senders and telling iOS whether to move them to Junk.
- Call blocking. Maintaining the list of spam numbers, built from public consumer complaint data and from reports by our users.
- Spam reports. Blocking the numbers you report on your phone and improving how we detect spam.
- Account management. Authenticating your identity, managing your subscription, and communicating with you about your account.
- Service improvement. Using screened texts and reports to test and improve our spam detection.
- Analytics. Understanding how people get through setup and where they stop, how subscriptions perform, and how our App Store ads perform.
- Customer support. Responding to your questions and resolving issues.
3. What We Do NOT Do With Your Data
We want to be clear about what we will never do:
- We do not sell your personal information. Not to data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else. Ever.
- We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
- We do not serve ads. The Service contains no advertising and we do not use your data for ad targeting.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not build profiles about you for purposes unrelated to the Service.
4. Service Providers (Data Processors)
To operate the Service, we use a limited number of third-party service providers who process data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure. Servers, file storage, and content delivery (Hetzner, Cloudflare).
- Email delivery. Account emails (Amazon Web Services).
- Spam classification. When our own checks cannot decide whether a screened text is spam, its sender and text are sent to Google's Vertex AI service for classification. As with every screened text, nothing sent identifies you.
- Authentication. Sign in with Apple (Apple).
- Subscriptions. Subscription management (RevenueCat). We identify you to RevenueCat by an internal account number, not by your name or email address. RevenueCat also holds your purchase history and the Apple Ads information described in Section 1.
- App analytics. The app usage events described in Section 1 (PostHog). We identify you to PostHog by the same internal account number, not by your name or email address.
We do not allow these providers to use your data for their own purposes.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on servers operated by our hosting providers. We protect your information with measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS for all connections).
- Sign in with Apple, so we never hold a password for your account.
- Sign-in tokens stored in your device's Keychain.
- Access controls limiting access to user data to what is necessary for support and operations.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service.
- Deleted accounts. When you delete your account in the app, it is permanently deleted after 30 days. Signing in again before then cancels the deletion.
- Spam reports. Reports you made are kept after your account is deleted, with the link to your account removed.
- Screened texts. Screened texts are kept to improve spam detection. Because they carry no link to you, we cannot find or delete the texts screened for any one person.
7. Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your data. You can:
- Turn off text filtering. In iOS Settings, go to Apps, Messages, Unknown Senders, Text Message Filter. Once it is off, no texts are sent to us.
- Turn off call blocking or reporting. Switch off Not Interested in the Phone section of iOS Settings at any time.
- Delete your account. Delete your account from the app's Settings. Your account and its data are deleted after 30 days, subject to Section 6.
- Cancel your subscription. In iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Access or correct your data. Contact us to request a copy of your account data or to correct it.
To exercise any of these rights, you can use the tools built into the Service or contact us at support@notinterested.app.
8. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provides you with additional rights:
- Right to know. You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to delete. You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Right to correct. You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.
To submit a request, email us at support@notinterested.app. We will verify your identity before processing the request and respond within 45 days.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 16, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@notinterested.app.
10. Cookies & Similar Technologies
The Not Interested website does not use cookies, tracking scripts, or analytics. The app uses the analytics described in Section 1. The app does not use advertising identifiers.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
